Can Dry Skin Brushing Replace a Shower?

Dry Skin Brushing is done on dry skin, hence the name.  If you are going to shower within two hours of Dry Skin Brushing, your shower will take place after you get done with Dry Skin Brushing, not before.

I come to this question in a different way.  First of all, I don’t see that Dry Skin Brushing is equivalent to showering or a replacement for Showering.  The feeling of Dry Skin Brushing is nothing like having your skin cleaned with water.  Dry Skin Brushing gets your circulation going and is energy enhancing, not specifically cleansing in the same way as water.

Dry Skin Brushing is such a disruptive practice for me, that everything else I do has to revolve around it.  I can’t hop in the shower right after I get done with Dry Skin Brushing and I definitely can’t swim in the pool water right away.  My shower water has a lot of chemicals in it and will irritate my skin if I get right in the shower.  We will soon have a water filter for the shower, so I hope that will help.

Most of the advice I read before starting Dry Skin Brushing indicated that you would take a shower right afterwards, but I don’t find it to work like that for me.  How dirty am I in between 3 or 4 swims each week and the detox baths to mitigate that chemical onslaught? Do I really need to rinse off whatever was stirred up by the Dry Skin Brushing? So far, my answer has been “no”.

If I wasn’t in the pool as much as I am, my advice might be different.  I’ve never been “not showered” enough to see if I feel bad without showering after I’m done with Dry Skin Brushing.
