Dry Skin Brushing can hurt if you brush too hard. You can hurt yourself everywhere doing dry Body Brushing as you are covering every single square inch of you skin with bristles. the geometry can get you sometimes.
After my first day of starting Dry Skin brushing at home, I wrote:
I totally believe in the health benefits but I’m sore all over and my clothes hurt my skin. It was worse this morning and I noticed it on my walk.
I can still hurt my skin today if I don’t pay attention to what I’m doing. Pain from Dry Skin brushing as rarely a problem now.Of course, Dry Skin Brushing is supposed to affect your skin. That is the point of doing it. The main skin results from best to worst are:
A refreshed, glowing feeling to my skin.
This is the goal. I achieve this feeling most of the time on most of my body.
A burning sensation in an area I have pushed too hard on.
This feels like sunburn and can last all day.
A scraped, raw feeling
This area will be sore to the touch and bothered by clothing.
Actual scratches that scab over
These appear when I go crazy, rushing and pushing too hard or going over a spot more than once in a session. These cuts are obvious results of Dry Skin Brushing as they are long, fine and curving. They generally are gone by the next morning or the following day after that.
Pay attention to Dry Skin Brushing
The most times I have pain problems with Dry Skin Brushing are:
- When I have not been skin brushing on a regular routine
- When I’m rushing
- When I have recent chemicals on my skin such as chlorine or sunscreen
All of these effects on my skin from Dry Skin Brushing are caused by not paying attention, pressing too hard, and brushing too fast. My experience has shown me that I need to pay attention when I’m doing it.
The best situation for me is with very dry skin, in my bedroom with the door closed and anyone else in the house knowing not to knock or bother me for the next 15 minutes. I don’t have any media on, but music would be fine. You don’t want to be watching the news or anything else that will take your attention. It’s only a brief time and you can focus on yourself and your good health.
I wrote a post about the side effects that happened when I first started Dry Skin Brushing here:
As far as pain from Dry Skin Brushing goes, the medium-level pain in the first days has not been repeated. I think my body was just not used to the new sensation Dry Skin Brushing provides. It was a very foreign feeling for me. And I had a hundred other symptoms at the same time. I was at my worst.
