When Should You Start Skin Brushing if You are Obese and Losing Weight?

I wish I had started Dry Skin Brushing anytime sooner than when I did.  I wish I had started as an infant, really.  But here we are in middle age.  I’m just glad I started when I did and that I have Dry Skin Brushing as a life-long habit now.

No matter what you call it, I think you should start as soon as you can.  If you are wanting to improve loose skin or cellulite, the sooner the better.  Get yourself set up and just try.  If it doesn’t work for you, try again a few times before giving up entirely.  The benefits of Dry Skin Brushing really will help you lose weight and get used to your new body as well.  The detoxification and skin benefits are a bonus.

The main benefits you will get from skin brushing before you lose the weight are these:

Exercise – Dry Skin Brushing is exercise.  It may be gentle exercise, but reaching every inch of your skin with a brush takes some amount of flexibility and agility in order to do it.  If you are obese now, it will only help you physically to spend that 10-15 minutes every day reaching to all the parts of your body.  I would definitely count the first 60 days of Dry Skin Brushing as exercise when you are obese and losing weight.

As I look back from the wreckage of my deflated 150 pound body, I think that the earlier I would have started to pay attention to my body – the better.  I was so terrified of the changes as I shrunk.  It was very bad near then end and I was in constant meltdown status about how bad I looked.  I think if I had been Dry Skin Brushing all along, some of the misery would have dissipated over time as I got used to myself more.

As it was, I started Dry Skin Brushing when I was 164 pounds – only ten pounds away from my goal after weighing as high as 275.  At that point in July 2011 I was bones flopping around in skin.  I’ve firmed up some and gotten some muscle tone since then, but in the beginning it was horrific to me.


Detoxifying Effects of Dry Skin Brushing – This aspect is very important and I think it will help you lose weight.  As obese people we are filled up with all kinds of toxins we have ingested over the years.  Dry Skin Brushing gets rid of this garbage.  Then your body can work more efficiently and effectively down the road.  If you feel better, you will eat better and exercise better.
